I think these issues have been addressed - if so, just mark it so - but they under the update article. After the update, I cant open Android repository, it just crashes, so I cant install any Android app. Reinstalled Android support from the Store. Also having the Store issue, which has not been solved yet. If anyone has some suggestion about how to solve these problems, write it down...

After the update I did a factory reset, enabled 3rd party apps install in Settings and tried to install 1. Yandex.Store (it is no longer available with Android Support or in Store) and 2. Aptoide (the Store has a server-side bug at the moment) and I tried manual .apk install. All of these failed :(

Got my Jolla Store apps back in place. Good! Now, lets see if I can get my Android apps back, shall we?

Same issue here. Here are the logs for aliendalvik: http://sprunge.us/BePT .Reinstalling did not fix the issue. Also, it's been several days since the last update, so it's not the indexing issue mentioned below (plus, I have a single android app).

Usually after update it can take quite many hours (depending how many apps you have installed) for android apps to be reindexed (they fail to start before that), so usually patience and retry should solve the the problem. (If you try to reinstall dalvik during the indexing it can cause more harm than good).

People should not do factory resets so easily as 99.9% of the problems can be solved without a reset...

@rainisto thanks for this explanation. I think it would be useful to make this answer a separate post (like a guideline or howto for "android apps after os update").

It was mentioned in previous release notes, but I guess it should be mentioned in all release messages. https://together.jolla.com/question/38508/release-notes-software-version-10516-paarlampi/

I have only Aptoide Apps so far... Since it wont start, I cant have any other Android app. Oh! I tried Killdroid, but it says "Android service is not working" and "Error starting Android service".

Waiting over 24 hours and still not working even after many reboots. I would have to say this answer is not a possible answer. Keep this bug alive.

If nothing else helps, then factory reset and start from scratch. Before that you could ofcourse try uninstall from commandline.

Found an issue moving from pretty clean (no dev mode, no hacks) 1.0.7.16 to 1.0.8.19 with prior no Android support installed. When trying to install sideloadways APKs, nothing happens at all.

Description: Upgraded to 1.0.8.19 and only then installed Android support from Jolla repository: clicking on Settings / transfers / downloaded.apk -> nothing happens. File Browser (3rd party application from Jolla store) has a function "install" when dealing with APK: nothing happened.

Trying to uninstall / reinstall Android support and reboot did not solve the issue.

Solution: installed Yandex store from Jolla store.

After that above methods did launch the APK installation.

Uninstalled Yandex store and tested again: APK manual installation is still launching from System / Transfers.

Thank you, I can confirm this! Only after installing Yandex Store, installing APKs is possible.

My situation was that I reseted the Jolla phone after not using it for a long time, then updated Kaajanlampi --> Maadajävri --> Tahkalampi. Installed Android support, and tried to install APKs but nothing happened, then came here for help.
