No sound coming out of speaker [duplicate]

It seems that there is a problem with playing any sound from the phone's speaker (phone ringing, email alerts,alarms, music files). When I plug in the headphones I can listen to songs as usual and when somebody calls I can hear the ringtone.
I presume this is probably a hardware issue, phone's speaker somehow is no longer connected, but just wanted to check if somebody has a similar problem before I contact care.
