My camera stopped working, ie black viewfinder and freeze when starting the camera application. This problem also persisted in all third party programs. The problem vanished first after updating to 1.0.8, but returned after installing the barcode scanner from the store. Now I have completely reset the device but the problem persists. Any idea on the source, since the problem persists between reboots and even resets? I have already tried uninstalling the camera application and killing the qcamera process.

I am grateful for any hint, since this bug renders the camera completely unusable.

If there are no other reports of a bug causing behaviour like this (I don't remember seeing one here), I'd say you have a faulty device that should be repaired/replaced. The fact that the problem persists after a factory reset hints that it's not a software issue.

Same issue with my Jolla after 1.1.1.27 update. Update was done after factory reset as the phone wasn't booting (btrfs errors prevented to mount root partition).

My camera and flash not working issue was actually only resolved by sending my Jolla to service where it was reflashed/updated. Unlucky enough my phone is again in boot loop with btrfs errors. This may be a hardware issue or then the btrfs got stuck for other reason.
