[bug] android lost access to positioning after cell-connection dropped

Was hiking yesterday and used an android app to track and use offline maps, all for a sudden it stopped updating its position. GPS icon was gone and no cell reception. Toggle GPS brought the icon back and it went steady after a few seconds still nothing for android apps (tried others and restarted alien dalvik). Reboot did not help either, only a weak GSM signal not even able to connect to GPRS/EDGE brought it back.
