Jolla, here is Hong Kong, not China, we are using Tranditional Chinese, not Simplified Chinese

Like Handwriting, you cant produce them out, but if I use my own database based on other Tranditional Chinese input, Jolla can display them correctly. To conclude, default input method cant recognize Hong Kong style Chinese Chars.

For reference: there is total 4602 Hong Kong style Chars based on The Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Below is the pdf that show out all Hong Kong Chars

As Hong Kong is a Base of Jolla except Finland, no Hong Kong char provide is not accepted, but the system can show them correctly, also only handwriting is support Traditional Chinese.

I can confirm this. Characters that are Cantonese related like 嗰、啲、嘅、嘢;and place names like the 鰂 as in 鰂魚涌,埗 as in 深水埗 etc. are all missing in the Traditional Chinese handwriting input method.

This is not only the problem of Hong Kong, but also of Taiwan, Japan and Korean. Adobe and Google notice this problem and publish a new font "Source Han Sans" Sadly, the format is otf that jolla doesn't support.

Noto Sans / Source Sans (otf) DOES work in jolla. However, some chars are still missing.

Thank you for your feedback. We are looking into it. If it is the case there is indeed a probkem it will be corrected as soon as possible.

You also mention you have your own database working. Maybe you can share that information to help other people?

yes we got a own database for my chinese input method, you can download it from https://openrepos.net/content/saberaltria/saber-im-zhong-wen-shu-ru-fa-su-cheng-cang-jie-bi-hua-jolla

The database is stored in /usr/share/SaberIM. The database already contained 4602 hong kong style word

Is it possible to fix the same problem in Simplified Chinese input methods?
