But wasn't recovery menu ment to help out on situations like this? Though i'd like to now how this dd backup works, i'm fed up to always start anew after factory reset. Sorry, for no help.

@veeall For me it seems that recovery mode (respectively the factory reset) only resets the settings and the /home directory, but does not "reinstall" the hole OS. So if you did some changes in the deeper system, they will probably not get cleaned by an factory reset.
I would also be interested in such an copy :)

No backup yet!(

well, maybe i could make you a copy, but as i said, it wouldn't be a "fresh install". for example i activated the low power mode on my jolla, and after the factory reset it's still activated. so it seems only to reset home. what you probably need is a backup of an factory new device.

please make me a copy of your partition! low power mode will not prevent. You will get backup size 14,1gb, you will need to mount network folder in Jolla and to do a backup! Sorry for my english(

I post this as answer just to warn people copying their /dev/mmcblk0p28 and sending it to other people!

It contains sensitive user data

For example Wifi Passwords and /home/nemo!

[root@Jolla nemo]# btrfs subvolume list /
ID 257 gen 86423 top level 5 path @
ID 258 gen 86420 top level 5 path @home
ID 263 gen 33 top level 5 path factory-@
ID 264 gen 34 top level 5 path factory-@home
[root@Jolla nemo]#

In order to increase visibility of my comment above ... now as 'answer'

a backup of that partition is easily made with i.e.:

> devel-su
> dd if=/dev/mmcblk0p28 | ssh username@pccomputer "dd of=somefile.bin"

@phantomr6 - I have a copy of my mmcblk0p28-partition (but not after factoryreset) on a webspace, I'm still looking for a way to send you a private message for the link - any ideas anybody?

You, know that this partition includes sensitive user data?

Sailor ( 2014-09-23 18:41:45 +0300 )edit

I didn't know, so I unshared the file for now, logs indicate, it hasn't been downloaded yet. Will mount the file on my linux machine and inspect it tomorrow. Any hint's where to delete what? Does it contain /home/nemo ? Thank you.
