I would like to have a option to view email without automatically marking it as read. Basically to do the opposite of current behavior.

What would be the purpose of this feature? How would it work? Does any email client (on any operating system) currently support this option?

I often check my emails from phone to see whether there is anything urgent, but usually react on them later when I'm on PC. Since I'm using IMAP, read states are also being synchronized so when I get to PC I see emails as read and I can miss them.

As far as I know it's common feature in email clients, where you can choose to mark email as read automatically upon opening it (this is how it works on Jolla as of now) or manually.

How would it work? When you open the email, it wouldn't be marked as read. That's all that needs to be done since you can change read/unread status from the list already.

Most email clients features the ability to mark read emails as unread.

I would prefer to flag my emails instead. https://together.jolla.com/question/10149/follow-up-flag-or-star-for-e-mails/ Now I have to use this 'Mark as unread' as a workaround which is a bit stupid because when you arrive at work then you have everything unread even if some of them are read.

@drcouzelis: It's definitely possible on Evolution at least, as I've set it to work that way.

FWIW you can mark unread by long-tapping on the email from the list.

Actually @tomas3333 already noted himself that it is possible to do so. He would just like to have an option of the email client to do that automatically.
