We should have an option to choose the action taken, when we delete messages from IMAP email account.

-Do not delete on server -Delete from server -Others .....

I accidently deleted over 25 emails from server, even I thought I was deleting those only from phones email list, before I noticed that.

Isn't this a typical option for POP mailboxes rather than IMAP? And isn't the IMAP equivalent set up on the server? (e.g., Google Mail allows you to choose which one you want)

normally an e-mail client moves the mails into a folder 'trash' (or what ever name), this is normally configurable (that configuration is missing in Sailfish OS). This folder can be local or on the server. You should still find your mails in the local folder "Deleted items".

Well, there are standards as to which folder is Sent, Deleted, etc.. I believe Jolla follows them as I have them in my Sent, Deleted, etc.. If you want these folders configurable in the client, I think your question should be rephrased, and it's a valid feature request (nice to have too).

(cont'd) I'm not sure what the standard is regarding local folders, if it's required, then it's a bug. I'd open a new question for that though.

I would not call it a "standard", it's more a "convention" or "common to do so" AFAIK

IMAP first moves the emails to the trash folder, they are not permanently deleted until you delete them from the trash folder, this is standard behaviour for IMAP accounts, IMO does not make sense to offer such option, like said in the comments above that's something used for POP accounts.

I am not sure I agree. This is not about the POP-related option. This is a standard option in Blackberries (using BES, not POP) and very widely used by business users (including my wife). Many people use their blackberries to allow them to see what email has arrived and to respond only to urgent ones while they are out of the office. Those people often like to use the "delete only from my blackberry" option so they can deal with the mail later in the office while not cluttering up their blackberry with it. Personally, I don't use it but many people do.

It is a useful option, although probably not top priority.
