It would be fun to have an Other half with two camera lenses, being able to take stereoscopic photos.
Ideally sold together with a simple viewing device like Google's Cardboard, to view the photos on Jolla's display.

Interesting idea, but thinking about phone hw in the "First Half", this would require an independent TOH with two objectives, two sensors & own memory before the images could be transfered into the phone. Moving image data via i2c isn't super fast, but I suppose it would be possible (in which case the TOH wouldn't need an independent Bluetooth/WiFi transmitter). However, I'd put this idea on ice even as a community build, for it's price and lack of need among several customers. Sorry for the shot ;)

simo ( 2014-09-26 20:52:14 +0200 )editI don't know much about hardware - if it's actually that complicated it would definitely get too expensive for anyone to buy ;-) I assumed that one additional objective+sensor could be sufficient. Or even hoped that it might be done by just using software and optics, involving mirrors and lenses.
A second Jolla would be a nice workaround, for now :)

The bit about using the phone for stereoscopic vision is nice. Would a camera with depth-data do?

I assume it works sufficiently when the objects are not too close, but coming closer, none of the lenses could catch the perspective of the other eye.
