I see great feature, to switch on/off by holding volume button +/- Changing state could be indicated by vibrating. This I really miss in my Jolla. This feature I see VERY useful and it is present in many other phones even in those that are not smart* ;) I see no point to volume down or up media player when you even do not listen to music (poor implementation - this could be done dynamically, dependents on running apps or whatever). This is what those buttons do right now. At least It could be one step more MUTE -> SILENCE MODE (as minimum).

Turning silence mode by turning face down https://together.jolla.com/question/371/silence-incoming-calls-by-turning-the-phone-face-down/ is not useful in all cases (can be implemented as a additional choice), but I would like to switch on/off silence mode without getting out of my pocket.

Cheers!

I would agree to [bug] power button wont silence incoming call, But silence mode by turnig face down is not what exactly I wanted. I would like to disable/enable silence mode without removing mobile from pocket by holding volume +/- button and to indicate this by vibrating. This turning face down is more something fancy than useful. So if you agree I will edit post and remove bug with power button. But this post I will keep with silence mode.

@Kurossa powerbutton should (does not atm iirc) silence it, in your pocket. having a feature for changing silence mode (toggle) would be nice too but how should that work when you actually do not want buttons active when the proximity sensor is closed? Toggle only if ringing-incoming-call is active? Please do not mix those features [silence incoming call|toggle silence mode], I for one do not want my vol-rocker do anything in my pocket ever.

From what I observed, volume button works even when proximity is enabled (in your pocket). Only difference is that screen is not back-lighted. You wrote: "I for one do not want my vol-rocker do anything in my pocket ever." So sad information for you is: It DOES!

I would like to have 2 working features. 1st - silence the incoming call by power button which is not working for me ( bug already reported: https://together.jolla.com/question/19113/bug-power-button-wont-silence-incoming-call/) 2nd - toggle silence mode by volume buttons, which are working all the time with/without proximity sensor (it change the media volume). For me it's OK that those buttons are working all the time. One more thing also that this toggling could be indicated by vibration, so you could feel that something changed (i.e. one short vibration to indicate silence mode on, one long / 2 short for mode off)

The working volume-rocker while proximity sensor is closed is a known bug caused by android (alien-dalvik) keeping the audio active even when there is no playback. Please enlighten me... for what do I need toggles in my pocket? When the phone rings I need a silence option, I know not working atm, pwr-btn -> could be enhanced to all-hw-btns but I do not get the need for another profile toggle (give me back my ambience-chooser on lock-screen!)

1.1.9.28 will offer this possibility: "Turn off all system sounds by long press on volume down key"

It's a late reaction on this question, but not with regard to release date (last week) ;-)
