I had to do a factory reset following problems covered in I then upgraded the OS to and installed various Apps from Jolla store and Warehouse. I also installed Google Play store following the instructions in

While the OS update option showed in the system menu when I first updated the OS to yesterday, it is now missing. The first System menu item now has the heading “!!sync_and_backup” (see attachments) suggesting that the system menu file has become corrupted.

I can’t therefore update the OS and the option to backup is missing as may be other System Menu items.

I really don't want to do another factory reset before being sure there isn't another way of correcting this.

Any thoughts and help much appreciated.

Many thanks.

A solution to this can be found here:

In terminal:

  1. pkcon refresh

  2. version --dup

Brilliant thanks @chemist and @nthn. Sorry to have created duplicate. I searched but didn't spot this.

PS love the postscript comment which appears after executing "version --dup" - "All bugs encountered until reboot are features" :)
