Who to show when you want to find a contact

Isn't a typical case something like: I would like to find the number of the guy whose name begins with "J", but I cannot remember if it really was Jason, Jasper, Jesper, John or Juha? So I enter J and expect to find him in the first screenful of names. What I really see when I do this in Jolla is that first I see contacts having "J" somewhere in the data for this contact. I may not find what I am looking for some time. I suggest that the first results we see on the search list are those names which start with this letter, either first name or surname, depending on the contact display settings. I would first go through christian names and then family names. I don't have a preference for the rest of the contact data, but it is good that all fields are searched, so I can search for anything unique.

With disabled search (pulley menu) and then tapping on the letter you may have nearly the requested behaviour, or not?

Well, it gets a little closer, but not quite there. Now, with 1.0.8.21, the search seems to work on surnames first although I have ordering based on first names, at least in a case at hand, it has six entries before first names beginning with the given letter. But the result is better than with explicit search. Even with this search, I would prefer incremental search, I rarely have any use for this kind of search. However, the explicit search is already incremental, so for me it would suffice to improve it. If I select ordering based on first names, I get a little better result even in explicit searches. Still I wonder why I get "J&", "Jat", "Jo" and "Ju", as well as many company names with "ja" in them before "Ja*", which I am looking for!? Maybe one extra ordering before display could be the solution.
