I would really like a kickstand to be added. (like on the surface 3 just as an example)

I love that you use an intel atom CPU this will make it sooo much easier to have a fully open source stack/kernel.

Q: CPU is the older Z2760, Z3740 or Z3560 ?

gbraad ( 2014-11-19 14:25:23 +0300 )

Jolla tablet awesome design. great operating system. An innovative company trying to make a difference and reach out. just lacks a bit on hardware specifications i feel improve the front camera to at least 5 megapixel as 2 megapixel is old and much cheaper smartphones even have 5 megapixel nowadays and increase the battery life to at least 5300 mAh so it lasts longer. Operating system has done its part and results are charming just imrove the hardware a-bit and see people go more crazy about it and support more. Just improve these two things if possible and i guess you will have more sales and support than you currently have and will make more difference interesting much more people. Jolla is having a good start i love Jolla i just want it to be better and excel. :) Good Luck and EXCELSIOR!!!

Like: screen size and resolution design sailfish os 2.0: God, a taplet really supports Qt ! finnally, It appears!!! It is a liberator for our C++ guys !!!!! micro SD

Don't like: Pen: I would like a pen cost $30, more than the upgrade for 3.5G. And if you add a pen, I will found it, beside add apps like program design. Because I really need a pen to do design or to record my mind(surface pro is too expensive for me, I think the programer guys and the designer guys in China got that problem, too), and I enjoy the Qt developement, too. microPhone & speaker: for record client request, to do Needs analysis. Battery capacity: Is it really enough for one work day? run some android apps for 8+ hours?

If by pen, you mean a stylus, I think you can always buy any capacitative based stylus and use that with the tablet. Right?

sifartech ( 2014-12-11 06:36:36 +0300 )

capacitative based stylus, is not easy to use.

johnson.he ( 2014-12-22 11:59:41 +0300 )

@johnson.he - Just curious - isn't a "pen" a capacitative stylus? Or does it use some other technology?

Looking great, despite the size of the screen.

Concerns: Micro-USB for charging - Would prefer additional dock interface and/or a built-in Qi-pad - and type C connector for data Battery - Please make it swappable, standard Batterylife - Please increase capacity, just a tad Both landscape as well as portrait mode for OS as well as apps

Hmmmm: Two gigs of memory - standard - hmmm - Extra accessable memory slots for upgrading memory (SODIMM) could be nice. Stylus/Pen support, this could come in handy. TOH support perhaps - By this the users could add, for instance Qi wireless charger support herself. Yes - I really do not like and fear the USB-Micro.

If I can Buy a Jolla I would do mainly for the OS that is pretty cool. What I don't like is the Battery. Even with the most optimized OS (like IOS) and the battery save functions (like Sony) it's hard to think that the Battery is good enough.

The tablet seems to be a decent bargain for those satisfied with the offerings. Still remaining hesitant, whether or not to contribute.

So far haven't bought a tablet at all. Samsung Galaxy S tablet (with amoled and mhl, while lacking pen-support and usb 3.0) and Asus VivoTab (with wacom-support, while lacking screen resolution) have come in consideration. To iPad given a wide berth (for reasons irrational).

What sets Jolla Tablet apart from existing boards

  • Sailfish OS (unknown waters)

What be swell:

  • 64bit
  • DPI&size of the screen
  • the price

Expect to see:

  • USB-OTG 3.0 (or faster to connect to SDXC-reader)

Wish to see:

  • AV-out (HDMI, MHL, TYPE C, whatever)
  • PEN-support (active)
  • 3G/4G/LTE
  • Amoled display (3:2)
  • Battery swappable (to extend tablet's lifecycle)
  • Expandability (docking or port)

Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC Hardware.
Even if not supported till 2016 or later NFC would be there as a future option to attract developers and extend the capability of the device.

Audio in / Microphone jack.
Something not seen in devices anymore. I have not had one since my sony minidisk player. Could be used to record lectures by college students / aspiring musicians / etc. Would be simple to add. (i think)

USB type C connector (Like nokia n1) Still can be used for usb 2.0, has a stronger physical connection (my usb connections get all bent up over time)

I don't see bluetooth listed at all, so... Bluetooth a couple of other thoughts on that, I would like to be able to join 2 Bluetooth headphones so 2 people could watch a movie on the tablet.

I use a tablet for reviewing photos ergo SD slot and not a micro SD slot.

as for the cameras, I have an "idea" to have 4 small cameras, one on each corner and have them all take a photo at the same time and stitch the photo together in layers. It would give you depth of perception no? I guess the software would have to be brilliant. The would then have to be portable across platforms.

Probably Jolla tablet will use the Intel Atom Z3560 CPU, which offers quite good 3D performance with its PowerVR G6430 GPU. Nokia N1 will have the same graphics chip:
