Hi,
would be great, if the battery is swappable. Just to make sure, that the Tablet is still functional in some years.

User-replaceable battery is of high importance. I don't want to send my gadget to service center just to replace battery.

Looking at the design is doesn't really look like it is "user swappable". Of course there is always a way of opening a device and the real issue with the Jolla Phone is that, while the battery is removable, the design of it is Unique, making it impossible to find a replacement.
So this time, the LEAST Jolla can do is to use a common sized battery, not nessecarily making it easy to replace. Because if you want a sleek design for the device than an "easy" way to swap batteries often this usually tends to get in the way of the design aspect, if you know what i mean, look at the n9 for example.
But then again, I got som hardware/shell switched out on my lumia 800 and when it returned the plastic frame had signs of...forced entry. Jolla needs it's second device to have a more robust/sturdy feel to it.
I hope user raplaceable battery is doable without introducing "squeeking" sounds to the hardware.

IMHO they should keep the case uniform without any covers of flaps that comes off to fiddle with inside, but they could make the internal battery connections in a way that it is easy enough for average user to change them if they manage to get the case open (varanty voided). Others who don't trust the battery life can extend it by using poratable batteries like Nokia DC-series.

+1. A friend of mine is a private master on tablets/phones in our remote bear's corner. He definitely says that batteries are the problem No.1, even greater than broken screens. Provided that the device is destined to serve his owner long and not to be thrown away in a few monts. Jolla's products are definitely designed for a long life, aren't they?

Battery shoud be slotted in from side (thickness side of Jolla tablet) while maintaining uniform design.

The battery seems smaller than the competition. A replaceable battery would help but the standard battery should be bigger.

I haven't bought a tablet yet because I found NO AFFORDABLE with user replaceable battery. Actually I returned an already bought tablet because of this missing feature. Manufacturers cover the build-in battery only for 6 months under warranty!

Make battery more powerful please and swappable, like memory cards? In one step or in two (depending on whether the battery compartment has a lid or not).

We receive a lot of ideas and suggestions, which we are grateful for, but all of them can't be implemented. We've reviewed your idea and unfortunately it is not something we can implement, at least right now.
However, we will keep all suggestions, and might revisit this decision in the future if we see an opportunity to implement this feature-request in an upcoming product/SW release.

@eric and the Jolla Tablet Team, thanks for the answer and your great work. I understand that there was limited possibility to change hardware specs of the tablet after the kickstarter campaign. But please keep hackability and repair parts in mind for future devices :)

Most devices have swappable batteries. The level of disassembly before changing it varies. I'm not going to vote for this since I prefer solidness prior to easy battery replacing every three years.

It doesn't have to be something you swap on a daily basis, but it should be possible to do without too much hazzle (disassembling a lot of parts to get to it etc). Also, of course, battery should be an accessory available in jolla store (can't see why the phone doesn't have it yet, batteries DO wear out, and for devices we love, batteries won't last its lifetime).
