An interesting idea has surfaced on IRC - what about sticking a wacom (or similar) pen tablet behind the Jolla tablet ? If the tablet is thin enough (or the pen tablet control field strong enough), the pen might work through the tablet just fine! :)
BTW, this idea has been already successfully tried for combining pen tablets and gutted LCD monitors:
As for practical usability of the Jolla tablet with a "wacom" stuck to the back, this could go very well with the
TOH/docking idea. The TOH interface could provide power and data connection for the pen tablet and everything could be integrated in a thin back cover. If the pen tablet would need USB, the USB port should reportedly support OTG and could be used.
Another possibility would be to have the tablet connected to a PC for power and data and piping the coordinate stream to the Jolla using Synergy or something similar.
Testers needed !
If you have a pen tablet and a tablet/smartphone laying around, you can help to verify if this idea would be feasible!
Just:
- place your smartphone/tablet on your pen tablet
- try if the pen works even through the smartphone/tablet
- add your result tot the list below
Thanks in advance! :)
Test results
- @MartinK pen tablet: Wacom Volito 2 device: Jolla smartphone result: not working (the cheap Volito2 pen tablet control field it probably too weak)
Hard to implement at this price point. It would be more of a gimmick for myself but I sure hardcore artists would appreciate it.

That could bring the price penalty down if true. :)
