The ability to have android apps run in the background while being minimized. We do know it works with native apps but with android apps, once a user leaves the app, it pauses basically removing a very important reason to purchase a jolla tablet which promise top class multitasking.

Especially when android apps are supposed to be the deciding factor in convincing potential customer that they will still be able to have access to "standard apps". If Jolla can offer the user the possibility to either allow or not, android apps running live in the background, it will offer de facto the best sailfish and android tablet in the market.

Is this technically feasible and considered by jolla?

bumped this thread by answering and converting to comment! Would be really cool if android apps, in my case youtube app, would continue to run when switching away like native apps do.

Untill we have native apps for all the most common smartphone tasks, the quality of work and multitasking ability for android apps is crucial. I have to use Skype, Whatsapp and Viber daily because of my work, keeping all of the three open simultaneously. After the latest update (1.1.1.27) the memory management policy always closing some or all of them, especially when I have to open some other app and/or browse more then one tab in the internet. That is definetely not multitasking. Hope the situation would change soon, would be great to hear any update on the situation from Jolla.

but wait a minute. I thought that's how android apps are supposed to work? android apps are "frozen" even on a native android device. however, there are parts of an android app tha can be made to run like a service in the background. do you mean that?
