Jolla? Long live Nokia N9 :( [not a question]
After HTC One, iPhone 5s, Nexus 5, Nokia N9, One + One, and most recently the BlackBerry Z10 - I bought the Jolla phone. I was hoping for originality and innovation. I was not disappointed :) Sailfish OS is quite different. Maybe SO different? Few intuitive and highly underdeveloped. Just compare eg. add attachments to e-mails, select options by uncomfortable pull-up menu (walking down the street it is difficult to choose the right option - I must stop to do it), and finally firmly controversial UI design ... It's a matter of taste, but just compare the fully mature, beautiful and practical UI of MeeGo or Blackberry OS 10. In a word - MUCH remained to be done to be able to Jolla can fight in the real market. I am passionate and tech-freak, but my wife after 4 minutes with Jolla said: take this crap from me! I am sad because of this ... I hope that each update will improve situation, but I'm worried about the distance that separates Sailfish OS and MeeGo - which in some sense is derived ...
Actually I have the opposite impression whilst I have use N9 just a few seconds from a friend. However, when I hand my Jolla to friends and they play around, okay, maybe after a few minutes playing around they say it's somehow strange to use it, however, most often the next day they come back and tell me that it took them hours to get used back to their own phone as they permanently try to push away apps or search the pulley menu :)) In any case the nice thing is, that Jolla is still somehow a juvenile and there is an open ear for the community always, so there will for sure a lot of polishing be done and it will become better and better :)

As the N9 Meego system tried to build a bridge between traditional user interfaces for touchscreens and modern ones (with the introduction of swipes). SailfishOS is one step further and offers a modern swipe based operating system. Like every UI it needs some improvements here and there to be user friendly enough and of course like every new UI some time to getting used to it.

Unfortunately the UI gives no indication whatsoever if you have a microSD card installed or not. I have a 16GB FAT32 formatted microSD in mine, and the only way I can tell it is mounted is by running df or mount (ie. developer mode) and seeing microSD mounted as /dev/mmcblk1p1. " Excellent example for Sailfish OS UI underdevelopment - or the NEW LEVEL :)))
