[Feature request] Cloud service for Jolla tablet and phone
Jolla announced Tablet has not mentioned about something like "cloud service". I suppose we can use existing clouds to store some files (music, pictures, etc..) but it would by great if Jolla could prepare its own cloud service for storing settings, installed native apps, contacts.... - something like "backup storage". Apple has something like this in their iCloud. This cloud should work also for Jolla phone as one ecosystem.
a native younited app is supposed to fill that gap, ... we are still waiting

_mue ( 2014-11-24 17:58:28 +0200 )editLast February, Jolla published a press release saying that there are working with younited to offer a cloud solution to Jolla users. This solution would have give access to cloud features with privacy in mind. http://jolla.com/media/documents/MWC_F-Secure_announcement_MWC2014_FINAL.pdf Unfortunately the result is an Android application for Jolla Phone and not a Sailfish application. Moreover it is not a tied integration with Sailfish. Registration under Younited is very simple once the application has been downloaded. Therefore few information is provided by default about the proposed solution especially about the location of cloud storage (including storage of backups) which is key for a solution that claims to be secure and to respect privacy.

torcida ( 2014-11-24 22:24:08 +0200 )editI don't think there's too much of a difference in cloud services considering phone and tablet, so closing this as duplicate with: https://together.jolla.com/question/411/icloude-or-skydrive-type-services-on-jolla/
