Question about Jolla SoC hardware (Package on Package reworking)

I saw a picture of the Jolla SoC and I want to ask how feasible it would be to remove the 1GB LPDDR2 RAM chip and solder on a 2GB LPDDR2 chip? I have the following specific questions

a) In a POP setup, is the memory chip soldered as well as glued to the SoC? Like this? http://images.anandtech.com/doci/6914/apq8064-package.jpg

Not very feasible... Those things are very fine and the equipment to do something like that is totally out of reach for many people. Not totally impossible but without several 100.000's of Euros in equipment etc I would not say it is realistic. Not to mention how tricky it would be to get a fitting chip...

I agree, that it will require specialized equipment. I was curious since my friend told me that he owns hot air re-work tools and has experience with BGA reworking. He has never re-worked POP, and had asked me to confirm whether the Memory and SoC were stuck with glue. Also he told me that Micron makes a 2GB LPDDR2 part which might be pin-compatible with the current 1GB LPDDR2 memory chip on Jolla phone.
