Hi,

it has annoyed me many times, when using the Camera options, that the background does not reflects the picture colors. Let me explain, if I change the option filter from AWB to Fluorescent, the picture I see behind the background does not reflects the real pictures colors due to the background. Depending on the Ambiance main color, this can be very annoying. Switching from one option to another with a real picture would be more convenient.

Can't we just have a 100% transparent background for the Camera option background?

[EDIT] Ok the solution hereunder works fine, of course no guarantee, be carreful. I'll keep the question open as I would love this parameter to be changed so, not an option though, for the next update by @Jolla, maybe @stezz ?

it is line 270 isn't it? and why chmod the file? You are root (use and cli editor)!

As I said, I'm not a programmer, so 'why this', 'why that', I can't answer you. :) Feel free to edit the write up, I don't mind

@chemist - In fact, please do alter it or post your own answer, perhaps I can learn a different way. As I said, I'm not programmer, just love tinkering and I don't really understand CLI or the lingo involved, plus I don;t want to be resetting my Jolla every time I balls it up! :D

@Markkyboy , well done and thank you. Of course I would like this to be implemented for everyone, I mean this is very much obvious that this overlay should be transparent for camera options!

@chemist yes, line 270 is the one.

Thanks @damourti, you're welcome.

@chemist - I'd quite like to understand a better way to do things like this and yet, I'm not fearful of having to reset my phone if I balls things up, but it's the time it takes to recover the device. So, I tend to go the long way round when doing 'hacks' like this, I just worked it out while having nothing to compare or learn from - so yes, I'm up for learning a new way to edit files without sodding around :)

I thought it was necessary to chmod the file so I can alter it, but to learn I don;t have to do that is great, but how to do that in CLI is beyond me, well to work it out, I don;t know the commands for such processes.

Using your favourite method of editing files, go here on your device;

/usr/share/jolla-camera/pages/settings/

The file to edit is called SettingsOverlay.qml (line 295)

visible: overlay.expanded
color: Theme.highlightDimmerColor
opacity: 0.6*`  <--------change this to `0.0`

Save and open the camera app to see your changes, or if you are not keen on messing with files, you can use my patch (patchmanager required) found on Openrepos or download the rpm directly sailfishos-patch-camera-settings-overlay

Great, it works perfectly, I hope this parameter can be changed for the next update by @Jolla, maybe thanks to @stezz :D

Thanks for converting to 'answer' @damourti. I'm quite certain there were no options visible to for me to edit, no matter, it's done.

Agreed; the overlay should have been transparent from the start and it would be good to see it implemented in a future update @stezz ;)

Still not implemented, @cybette if at some point you can try to suggest/discuss about this "improvement", would be great ;-D

I created patch with setting for Camera setting overlay (slider). If someone interested, I can package it and upload to openrepos...

@schturman Upload this patch, please.

@schturman - good job!, why not as a plugin for Settings instead of a patch?, and yes, upload to openrepos! :)

Spam Hunter ( 2016-04-28 08:48:09 +0300 )edit

@Markkyboy , it's patch because it still need modification of SettingsOverlay.qml.
Before I will post it, I need to ask you if you spec file include UNAPPLY command inside a %preun section. I need add your package as Obsoletes, that mean it should be uninstalled correctly even if user not unapplied it before from Setting->Patchmanger. If not, I will add your package as Conflicts.
Thanks
