Hi, I'd really want to know which chances we have on getting KDE apps on our future beloved Jolla tablet (or at least Plasma Active ones). Office suite, for example.

IMHO it would be great to have this features and break distances with competitors.

https://github.com/sailfishos/sailfish-office - Viewer part already uses Calligra.

"Sailfish Office is a document viewer for Sailfish OS. Sailfish Office uses Sailfish Silica components for the user interface, as well as poppler for PDF rendering. Office is based on the open source Calligra project."

BTW, agree that it would be really awesome if Qt, KDE and Jolla join their hands together to create wonderful and powerful open-source products for customers.

I'm quite optimistic that there will be a Plasma Active port for the Jolla Tablet, like it was done for some other devices already. But true, I too would love to see KDE/Plasma apps running natively integrated into the Sailfish OS. I guess it should be technically possible, with both using Qt and Sailfish being more open than any other tablet OS around...

I'd like to hear any Sailor or developer talking about pros/cons/issues/chalenges!

It looks very interesting (from a hacking point of view ;) ) but there are big steps before it would come to reality. I think a necessary first step would be to install nemo/glacier instead of sailfish compositor, as it should prouve the point that we can get a working non-sailfish compositor running. Then, KDE/Plasma very likely will require having Qt 5.4 installed, which is not going to work straightforward. Then I most likely forgot a ton of problems that could happen :)

Hmm, Qt is fine but still it wold not be trivial as still integration for Silica UI (Gestures such as Swipes, flicks, sub-pages, Pulley menu, etc) is required, I believe. Not a developer here.

I would love to see that as well. The hope of getting KDE apps running on it, in Sailfish or KDE Plasma Active installed alongside, is actually the biggest interest I have in the Jolla tablet. Don't get me wrong, I like all the other stuff that is going on too, but this is something that would really set it apart from all the other tablets for me, as I think this would be a big step towards productively using the tablet for some non-trivial tasks.

Is there any scope for reusing any of the work done for Tizen. Does anyone know of any Tizen apps?
