Real video app
With support for subtitles, lots of codecs, etc. etc. Having a basic video player in the Gallery app is not enough.

http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html is already a complete player and was ported to wayland. http://wayland.freedesktop.org/extras.html
Agree, this would be fantastic. GStreamer has always sucked in my opinion (and I don't see why this would change).

This is the kind of thing I was thinking about.
And for the codecs, check https://openrepos.net/content/xerxes2/ultimate-codec-support
mitrigol ( 2014-01-17 20:35:26 +0300 )But it is limited to GStreamer which is horrible for the moment. It doesnt play all videos, audios, no subtitle support, no support for choosing audio track etc etc.
Its up to Jolla to fix the backend.

Bulder ( 2013-12-30 17:25:23 +0300 )I agree, browsing the gallery for movies is not obvious either.
Macilaci457 ( 2013-12-30 17:30:37 +0300 )@Bulder no, actually, a dedicated video app is not a bad idea at all... perhaps someone can confer with the android app maker of "MX player" to port to a native SailfishOS app?
AL13N ( 2013-12-30 18:50:38 +0300 )Or VLC player maybe?
