I find the pulley menu inconvenient, as I use the phone with both hands.

  • I cannot see all options immediately at once, except perhaps if I massively overshot it.
  • I have to hunt scrolling instead of just tapping on an item.
  • It might be less suited to long menus.

Please provide a mode where it is possible to conveniently call up a stationary full menu where an entry can just be tapped.

If you pull the pulley menu all the way you get just that. What exactlay do you have in mind? I agree that the pulley menu is not suited for longer menus, but I think that is a problem that the app developer is responsible of solving himself by keeping the pulley menu short.

  • Pull down (or up, if it's a bottom pulley menu) beyond the last entry, and the pulley menu locks open. From there you can tap on an item. Just as fast as on your Android device, and no need for hunting the actual menu button in the first place.
  • If I remember correctly, Jolla guidelines for the UI design suggest only 4 or 5 pulley menu items to be used to avoid too long menus.

I see. Then the problem is that the UI is not self-revealing. Now the first impression is that it bothers me to have to scroll to the top of a page, and then scroll again to get the menu, a discontinuous action.

I didn't tell you to do a quick pull like @Triton did, but to pull beyond the last entry in the menu (when no entries are highlighted anymore). You can do it as slowly as you like, and it still locks.

I just moved the comment.

Could you please revert your first comment to this answer to its original state (to the same comment as @Triton originally received), as editing it removed some valuable info for upcoming Jolla/SailfishOS users concerning the pulley menus, and made my comment in response to yours seem nonsensical?

I cannot edit it any more. The additional sentence was that I used a gentle pull to the end and not a quick pull as suggested by Triton below (which I would find annoying to have to do).

If you give a quick pull (as if you turned a virtual page to the bottom), the pulley menu will stay opened with all options visible until you select one with a (more traditional) tap.
