Wouldn't it be awesome to have a Swift-Keyboard for SailfishOs? Yes! That's why I'm asking!

There are four good things about the SwiftKey-Keyboard:

The realy REALY good prediction for what you'll be writing.
Because Jolla is a new company, the keyboard couldn't "learn" as long as the SwiftKey. AND it's self-learning!
It has a special Tablet version which would perfectly fit the Jolla Tablet.
It has even a swipe-option (if you like that...)

I propose that we just integrate it as the standard keyboard (of course in the Jolla Design) or as an buyable option (in JollaStore - It's not free). If it's a standard option I would be happy to pay 1$ more for the Phone to get it.

Cost... But for me, that's no downside, But I can imagine that the open source comunity is not so happy with that. That's why it should be optional...

There is demand for a gesture keyboard. Both SwiftKey and Swype would probably get customers from the Jolla crowd if they decided to create native versions for SailfishOS.

Personally I would prefer an open-source gesture typing solution. I don't want my keyboard to gossip.

Mybe gesture, But I know no other keyboard. That's as self-learning as SwiftKey's. It analyzes (if you activate the function) your Emails, messages and blog-post and inteligently predicts what you want to write better than every other keyboard (I know).

I would just say that they could enable the option to use 3rd party keyboards.. I would love to have Fleksy because of design and you can use it really good with one hand even in big screens.

It should work on any Sailfish phone with screen size from 4.5" to 5"."

This excludes the XA2 and X10 series from the usage. An update of the app to larger screens would be really nice.

OKBoard has a limited set of languages (in the sense that it is significantly smaller than the set of languages available in Sailfish), and from my experience doesn't work nearly as good as the swype keyboard on the N9 did. It is better than nothing, but I would love a built-in swype-like keyboard in Sailfish.

But the greate thing about swift is the word prediction. I dont want Swype. I want the keyboard from Swift! (It's not a duplicate)

It is worth pointing out that Swype also does word prediction and learns your particular vocabulary and word usage patterns.

Maybe some news is upcoming about swiftkey for sailfish. At MWC Shanghai this picture was taken of the new Sailfish Phone from Intex and there is clearly a Swiftkey entry in the 'sailfish store'

mmh that looks more like there will be a Sailfish specific Android App Store as you can see that is definitly an Android App. So maybe Jolla is outsourcing the Android apps from harbour to a dedicated Android App Store. And then Swiftkey would be just the Android App.

That is another question maybe its a bit mockup like to show some popular apps even if they won't be there? Or its just a skinned version of Aptoide, that would explain that.

For security reasons I dont want to have a third party keyboard app! But if Jolly/Sailfish supports different input variants I support that idea. So I disagree for the request for third party keyboard apps. But I do support the request for flexible input methods (if not already possible - I cant proof by now)!

@smoku: in android as well as iOS you have to give full rights to this app. So the app could save your keyboard inputs and send these to... anywhere! You have to trust that does not happen. But I dont want to TRUST, I want to KNOW.

Let's say it this way: I like to have usefull options but I cant see why Jolly should build another interface for different keyboard-apps when this can be used to tape-record inputs. You are right, I do not know that Jolla does not read keystrokes. But if you dont trust an OS you have a problem anyway!

My point is, You obviously trust Jolla not to read your keystrokes. What makes you trust it? If we know that, we may work on a deal/technology that would make you trust a third party.

I have installed SwiftKey on my Xperia XA2 today without any problems. Sailfish will still use the built-in keyboard for Sailfish applications, but for android applications it is possible to switch over to the Swift keyboard, which is good enough for me (because most of my typing happens within chat-applications like WhatsApp or Telegram or the Firefox browser anyway).
