A brief prehistory. My OS has until recently worked as normal. Android, and even XMPP was normal with 1.1.0.39. Then I installed Glacier homescreen. But immediately uninstalled. I stupidly forgot to reinstall the Lipstick. Of course, after the restart I got a black screen.

So I wanted to bring my cell phone completely to factory settings. I have read, we should NOT use the option #5 under 1.1.0.39.

/quote: Running option #5 BTRFS filesystem recovery is likely to break your device. Unfortunately the only working feature is option #1 Device reset, and you should follow these instructions to do it. /quote end

It was late and I have this option UNFORTUNATELY executed. After the restart, there was still a black screen. I started again recovery tool and use the option #1. Thereafter, the smartphone starts normally in 1.0.0.5.

I was able to perform two updates: 1.0.0.5 => 1.0.2.10 => 1.1.0.39.

However, I have the feeling that the smartphone simply runs totally unstable. You can not create an XMPP account (I heard that there was a general error in 1.1.0.39). Android Supprt is initially normal, after one or two reboots that would work but no longer. I have to uninstall Android support and delete the alien folder in the /opt/. Then reinstall it. Then it goes again, but only until the next 1-2 reboots. If i open an app it loads only and at some point it stops, nothing happens.

Now to my question: Can all this be because I have the option # 5 applied? If so, is there a solution? EXCEPT to send the smartphone for repair!!

I can say that I have been a lot more settings, Apps, Games, Apps Openrepos and had EVERYTHING was normal. But now much worse.

and there is ANY possibility to upgrade from 1.0.2.10 to Update 8. So I can make all the settings and then Upgrade to 1.1.0.39? (i am opt-in!)

Unfortunately I can not help you to solve the problem, but from what I understand you can opt-out for the update by sending another Email to Jolla. If this is the case you can go on for update 8

The opt-in property is tied to the IMEI of a phone. There is the warning You will not be able to rollback to update8 should you wish to in the Uitukka release notes both in https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204076583 and in https://together.jolla.com/question/59874/release-notes-opt-in-upgrade-to-software-version-11038-uitukka/. These warnings are there on purpose.

It is technically possible to opt-out a phone, of course. But note that this would require the attention of the guys who are working hard to finalize Update 10 (late already). Please show respect to their work - they cannot really afford doing opt-outs.

Can all this be because I have the option # 5 applied? (by @cvp) Attempting option #5 in the Recovery Mode may result in "Segmentation fault" after which the phone fails to boot up beyond the Jolla logo. Judging by this, the issues observed by @cvp are probably not caused by option #5.

I had also very big problems to recover from Glacier homescreen and had to reset my phone and lost some updates, but you shud be able to be removed from opt-in list. Look at this answer:https://lists.sailfishos.org/pipermail/devel/2014-November/005188.html. Regards nille

Interesting, please post the results. I'm interested in the fact that we can possibly opt-out.

i found the problem with Android. This is the step what i do to find out:

  • Installing Android Support over Jolla Store
  • Installing Yandex App over Jolla Store #this is needing to install external (or using non Store) APK files
  • i install Android Apps over file explorer

All is working well...

... but now: - i deinstall Yandex Store And now nothing works any more. Cant open any Android App/Game!

i reinstall Yandex Store... and all works again!
