Shutdown entry in top menu [released]
I find the shutdown-button on the side, often just locks the screen. A top-menu shutdown entry will ensure shutdown, when it is needed, and follows with the button-less design.
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.

Installing this and adding it to the lock screen shortcuts should let you reboot your device immediately. I don't think there's something that can do the same thing but shutdown instead of reboot, although you could always ask @Morpog if he can make something that instantly tells your phone to shutdown when launched.
There's also an app in the Store called 'SailfishReboot', which gives you an option of rebooting or shutting down.
