We need a quick way to dial contacts, this has come even more apparent as the current contacts app is still quite "stiff" to use.

What I mean by a smart dialer, is something like RapDialer on WP, or Dialer One on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.dialer.DialerOne

It basically removes any need to search for contacts when dialling, you just type their names T9-style and the ones that "might be searched for" appear. It's super quick and handy when you have hundreds of contacts on your phone..!

Or like Symbian's (eg. from 808) dialler. IMO one of fastes way to search and dial a contact.

Or like WebOS 'Just type' search.

there is an app in the open repos that does this right now. not perfect but i find it handy enough to use it everyday.

faster than going through the call history.

I'd rather select a contact via keyboard (as I used to do on the n900) than by T9. Is FastDial able to do this?

Today is the day of coincidences :D I found this great app by reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/rom-sailfish-os-alpha-t2841266/post65368153#post65368153
