I have this Nokia car charger from my old n900 Can i use it with jolla or i have to buy a new one ?
The spec of the charger: DC -6 INPUT: 12/24V === OUTPUT: 5.0V ===/550mA

You are safe to use any usb 5V charger no matter what xA rating, lower current may just mean that it does not charge if you use GPS and other things at the same time. Higher ratings are safe too as the phone decides about the rate it uses on its own - I use 5V/2A chargers all over (wall, car, etc) the phone does charge with 1A on all of them or sometimes even less if for some reason the 1A are not stable enough.

Should be ok, if I recall correctly you shouldn't use less than 1A while charging. Here's a thread about chargers: https://together.jolla.com/question/50974/recommended-fast-charger/
raketti ( 2014-12-30 14:00:53 +0200 )editI don't think it can hurt to charge with less current than the 1A charger. It will just charge slowly or not charge at all while in use. So, 550mA should be safe.
It MAY damage the phone if you charge it with a higher current than 1A, e.g. with a charger like the one for the HTC One M8 (charges at 1.5A). The phone's circuitry may not be be built for that.
bilgy_no1 ( 2014-12-30 14:13:49 +0200 )editCharging with 550mA current will be quite slow, but otherwise there should be no problems.
Valker ( 2014-12-30 14:15:37 +0200 )editI've always used the 1A as a ground rule, the battery and phone might endure higher current, but it might heat up and thus reducing the capacity and/or lifespan of the battery.
raketti ( 2014-12-30 14:20:16 +0200 )editYou can use any current output, the higher the better, since it is a maximum rating: if the Jolla cannot draw more than a certain amount, the charger will not provide it. It is a voltage source, not a current source.
