Why not integrate a gratification-system in the jolla community and the store? for instance flattr could be implemented within the whole jolla-community or an own gratification system that would yet be to develop (ship coins). With such a system it would be possible to reward not only community-efforts but also software-development and -improvement.

App-wise at the moment there is only the thump-up icon in the jolla-store afaik and developers have no possibility to gain money in return to their work except by asking for donations over paypal. IMO that will keep developers with economic ambitions from publishing within harbour. We will see in consequence a lot of rpm-files published anywhere instead of all essential apps published in the official jolla-store and big, "commercial" projects just not realized.

It seems somebody (internal employee? Alpha tester? Lucky test user?) has noticed flattr support it in the wild - https://twitter.com/capricotwi/status/611188750505373696

According to the development roadmap, Flattr support in Jolla Harbour has been implemented on February 2015, but not yet released. However, this suggests that we're going to see a gratification system for developers, probably so that a donation button for each developer is added to Jolla Store user interface.

The schedule is not revealed, but it's coming! For fun, quoting a post by Thomas Perl on TMO under topic community brainstorming, a pretty long time back :)

Solution #3: work together with Flattr

Posted on 2009-09-21 21:19 UTC by thomas p.

Peter Sunde is working on Flattr, a system for "social micropayments". Perhaps this would be worth looking into?

edit 13.2.2010: Flattr just entered beta stage: the concept is to pay a monthly fee by your own choosing, which gets redistributed to those that you choose as recipents. you choose to donate by clicking on a flattr button, where such is implemented. (kind of like the digg button). so the solution would be to implement flattr into maemo. < SOURCE

Apparently it's in 1.1.6. Great solution to the paid apps problem without having to resort to DRM!
