younited integration [not relevant]

It happened that my screen suddenly died on my Jolla phone in the beginning of this mount. I had to sent it for repair, and when i got it back, all my files was lost. It was kind of sad, because where some good photos of my family was gone. So my request/wish is what Jolla and F-secure will bring a native Younited app for Sailfish OS. With auto backup settings for media, messages and more. And it could be really nice if Younited was integrated deep to in the OS, with features like: save or attached files from the mail app direct to or from Younited. The same way as gmail works with drive and outlook with onedrive. I'm happy with Younited for could storage. But if the partnership with F-secure is off, I would love to see a partnership with Spideroak.

There is a slim chance you can recover your photos with photorec (see google). I do not know if it is available for sailfish. If you want to try it make sure to move/create as few files as possible before you run photorec.

If such a thing is implemented I think it is mandatory to support owncloud at first. Jolla named privacy as one of their goals. The only way to achieve true privacy with a cloud solution is to run it by yourself or to encrypt all files you store there. Other providers could be included as options or plugins for less privacy aware people.

I agree with you @Macros on owncloud. But I think younited/spideroak are good cloud options for non-technical persons like me:-)

@rasmus nielsen, you relalize there are free and paid services offering owncloud accounts? I do not find owncloud any harder to manage than googledrive or dropbox on this kind of setup. Plus you have the option to host your own cloud on something like a raspberry pi.

Now that Younited's been sold to US company it is not a secure platform any longer: https://together.jolla.com/question/80155/younited-being-sold-to-us/

On the light of this development I am really happy there never was a native client for SFOS, else I might have taken it into use myself.

Agreed, as the F-Secure/Younited-thingy was a complete fiasco it seems that it is actually a good thing that the native client never was relesed. And now that Younited is moving under the surveilling eyes of NSA no-one needs it anymore. Let's go for ownCloud et.al, and be free, happy and #unlike ;)

I think SpiderOak would be a good fit for Jolla / Sailfish. If you're a SpiderOak user you can log into their forum and add your +1 for a native Sailfish app here.

I'm using F-Secure Younited, android app. It works nice for photos and videos. Of course it's not perfect as it's not a Sailfish app, but it's the best I've found. And I trust F-secure to keep my photos private and secure.
