Alternatives to Lastu cases?

asked 2015-02-01 21:13:30 +0300

updated 2015-02-28 22:20:39 +0300

I actually own an unused tablet case and was wondering whether the Jolla tablet would fit into it.

The reason why I did not purchase the Lastu case when it was on offer was because it was made with genuine leather. A selling point for others, but not for me. I would prefer synthetic and plant-based materials as alternative cases.

Any suggestions based on the dimensions of the tablet which are 203 x 137 x 8.3 mm (7.99 x 5.39 x 0.33 in)?

Update: My old case won't fit. Thanks Markkyboy for the answer.

Update 2: mapbagrag alternative is the perfect solution. Thanks Jolla!

Thanks. Then I will definitely need a new case.

I'm not a fan of the wood look personally.

Jolla Tablet display itself is 7.85 inches. Your case is 7 inches according to the link you gave.

Jolla tablet dimensions are (according to GSMArena), 203 x 137 x 8.3 mm (7.99 x 5.39 x 0.33 in).

Got my Kelo/Salmon skin last week. Man it looks good on my Jolla!

If it would be synthetic leather I wouldn't bother to buy it. Has to be real deal - Jolla and my Lastucase. Oh how beautiful can it be?

Peace out mate!

The dead animals part is what bothers me, hence my request for alternatives.

Are Lastu cases really cases? The top and bottom part of the phone stick out, so they are not encased. In my opinion they are covers, not cases. A reason I don't buy one.

As long as they provide screen protection, I don't really care about the terminology.

I've been using a lastu case for my Jolla for about a month now and I'm seeing a lot of wear and tear. So while it's a really nice product, it seems it's not that long lasting and being a 49€ product I honestly expected more.

The wooden plate (actually the plastic below it) on the back has started to come off from both of the corners where the leather is attached. Also the leather has started to tear from the lower corner, just a small corner, but still I don't expect it to stop there after the first thread is cut. This is just a design flaw because of the attachment type used: TOH - glue - synthetic layer - leather.

I am using a predecessor of this caselogic "stand and case" on my current archos tablet with dimensions 200x134x8. As there is quite some room left i feel confident it will also fit one of my coming jolla tablets. it is Polyurethane and quite durable. Also i want an alternative at hand if the lastu concept does not stand my test :P https://www.caselogic.com/en/gb/products/tablet/folios/surefit-20-folio-for-7-8-tablets-_-csue_-_1108_-_black

25 year warranty! Looks like a good suggestion too. Thanks!

well, most of us will already have heard of it, but there's now a mapbagrag case available as additional perk at the indiegogo campaign: http://reviewjolla.blogspot.de/2015/02/update-on-jolla-tablet-campaign.html

Insmat has a case for Jolla. I think it is made of synthetic leather, because it smells terrible. A chemical rubber tire smell.
