Unable to remove nicknames

Sorting through my contacts (imported from various sources) I've noticed that some of my contacts have a nickname I can't remove. Sometimes the nickname is the exact same as the real name (So I have set first name to "John", last name to "Smith", and the nickname is "John Smith"). This causes their name to come up twice when I go to the contact card, something like this:

John
Smith
John Smith

Which looks kind of weird. I have imported this contact from Google, so it might be the "Google name" it imports, but could it be possible to:

1A) Be able to remove the nickname, or if not

1B) Choose if a nickname should shows up on the contact card (that is, either choose which nickname to show, and be able to not show any at all)? I could remove the first and last name, but then the contact won't sort properly with the other contacts.

And finally,

2) Write under the nickname where it came from (Facebook, Google, etc.). Right now it just says:
[nickname]
Nickname | John Smith

If it could instead say:
[nickname]
Google Nickname
