Currently it is possible to call android search dialog from running android application by putting a finger on "back" screen button and dragging a finger up (see screenshots below).

calling search dialog search dialog

It is nice feature and I like it, but it has two problems:

  1. I have Firefox for android installed and search dialog launches Firefox instead of default browser. I suppose it should be possible to hack this dialog to launch default system browser because clicking http links in android applications currently launches default browser.
  2. Firefox window becomes stacked on top of original application window. Looks like android application stacking fix is incomplete. To return back to original application I have to press "back" screen button, but Firefox keeps running in background.
