At least twice in the recent past did I want to change my vote from down to up or the other way after I heard enough arguments to make me change my mind. TJC does not allow this, it tells me that older votes cannot be reverted.

I realize this is an Askbot feature, but I do not know enough about Askbot... perhaps it is configurable and just turned off on TJC?

This has been fixed now and the time limit for changing your vote has been removed.

Changing you vote should be possible, and easy to do:

To cancel a vote, click the same voting button again
To vote the opposite way, click the other voting button

However, there is a time limit for us to do this, which could be removed in my opinion as well. And comments can only be voted up, those votes can't be cancelled

Yes, it is that timeout I had in mind. It takes time to hear enough arguments to make one change one's mind ;)

BTW you can revert a coment vote. Just vote again and refresh the page. The same timeout restrictions apply and you cannot vote down.

While it is like it is, it might be better to just wait with your vote, giving it after some comments/edits as a more certain vote.

You are absolutely right. But how long? In one of the two cases I mentioned in the question, "long enough" would mean about 6 weeks. In the other, it was about a week so yes, I could have waited a bit. I do not claim to be perfect ;)

The timeout can be changed in Askbot settings... But I also noticed that the timeout checking is broken in Askbot, so need to fix that before we can really do anything about this.

Anyway, I agree that the timeout does not really serve any purpose, so we could as well remove it completely.
