Sailfish os the tor mobile. with all tor related technology. lets make it the most secure os the world has ever seen.
Sailfish os is unlike so should should be its ways. There is nothing more important than security and privacy of a user. AND THERE IS NO OS OUT THERE WHO GIVE A DAMN ABOUT USER. JOLLA IS ABOUT PEOPLE .. SO TOR IS THE ANSWER. .. Tor technology has saved many lives in struggleing countries. Tor has been the voice of freedom of speech. Not all jolla user is a geek .. but jolla can make it happen. It can make the most secure form of communication not been possible till now. BBECAUSE OF IGNORANCE OF BIG COMMPANIES.

tor isn't a solution for everything. a lot of other changes are required for SFOS. for example there is no right management for apps. maybe you're more into that topic, but a lot of online discussions are like "yeah, tor, i'm safe, nothing can harm me", thats just not true. people have to be aware of it, that sec and privacy are a lot more complex
nightmare ( 2015-02-12 17:17:20 +0200 )editThat is why this is challenge to jolla .I know most are not geek but they are stilĺ human with their right. Jolla can make this complexity look easy to those people.
goiolla ( 2015-02-12 17:22:25 +0200 )editThe safetynet provided by Tor requires also the user not ot enable JS which breaks most of the current webpages and even after that Tor isn't 100% sure (Refering to FBI).
avhakola ( 2015-02-12 17:39:52 +0200 )editNothing thats online is 100% sure and private, but SailfishOS could be the answer for those who care about their privacy more than most people. iOS and Windows and Android doesn't care about privacy, so this is where SailfishOS can make the difference. Hopefully we see privacy as one of the corner stones of Sailfish, it can and should be unlike =). And yes, privacy and security should be implemented so that usability of the device remains easy.
MikaN ( 2015-02-13 09:55:56 +0200 )editActually iOS, Android and even Windows Phone seem to care a lot more about security and privacy than Jolla or SailfishOS does. For example CyanogenMod and even iOS give really nice controls for users to limit the access and permissions of the applications so that user does not need to trust so much to app developer or app store maintainer. All of those other platforms have security frameworks for apps and developers, certificate management including nice features such as as certificate pinning and sandboxing applications.
Jolla/SailfishOS security seems to have focused only in fixing critical bugs (Heartbleed, Shellshock, Poodle etc.) or making design decisions which sacrifice the security because of the usability (for example accept all certificates setting (which is really bad design) in some core applications). The only security/privacy related development was found in https://lists.sailfishos.org/pipermail/devel/2015-January/005512.html where there were these two things:
I would love to see Jolla/SailfishOS live up to its security and privacy marketing hype, but I am not holding my breath anymore if I ever was. Other platforms are doing better.
