Due to the lack of communicating apps on Sailfish, which almost every one uses nowadays, we rely heavily on android apps (whatsapp, bbm, viber,etc...) So I, and sure many others as well, will appreciate a fully working android apps that still work in the background just like they do on any android device. In fact I have always wondered how people keep talking about this issue and how one should keep whatsapp, for example, running the whole time to receive messages, and no one submitted an actual request to jolla. And especially since they (JOLLA) are advertising android app compatibility from the very beginning, I guess we should have a fully compatible android apps and not semi-compatible apps!

I'm sure this must be a duplicate question, but that doesn't matter. This is a very important issue indeed! You shouldn't have to manually open those apps after a restart, or check regularly if they might have been killed by OOM-killer...

As a Viber user, this is indeed very annoying at times, when you can't be sure if the background process has been left running. It's usually a 50-50 chance.. Although the situation has improved with the updates, it still needs work to be fluent and trust worthy. I don't want to restart the Dalvik a few times a day just to make sure I get my messages. Edit: But as @bilgy_no1 stated, this seems to be a duplicate of feature-request-true-android-apps-multitasking.

i really did search but couldnt find that feature request, maybe because of its title where its really not about 'multitasking'.Anyways I'll vote there as well.

@babooo - no problem, I know searching from this forum can sometimes be like finding a needle from a hay stack! :)

There are applications that have to communicate to fullfill their purpose, and there are others which communicate for their own benefit. Thus I'd appreciate this "compatibility" to be selectable. Because (on android) there is at least a dozen android apps that self-awake their background activity out of nothing.
