Now a days many phones like Samsungs provide low power profiles or ultra savings mode. For the case that the battery goes below 15% it would be interesting to switch the ambience automatically to a low brightness /less colour requesting ambience.

For example light grey fonts and simple black background or whatever is the least power consuming combination.

This could save time until the phone can be recharged again.

I agree. Nokia Symbian phones had this feature since the early days

I too really hope that the ambiences get some proper functionality as have been planned. Now I rely on Situations, which works quite well, but has some limitations.

The Jolla devices use LC-display types afaik. So the pixel color does not have any influence on the power consumption. The only thing you can do with the display is to minimize the brightness. Maybe you can use the Situations app here and stop unnecessary apps, switch off wifi and bluetooth. But the app itself will consume some additional power.

Maybe in a future version of SFOS the ambiences may contain more settings than picture, colors and sounds. That could be an nice improvement.

What I've understood from various interviews, reviews etc. is that the ambiences will influence also in connectivity and react to accessories. I don't know how much will be implemented upon release. These are in line with the roadmap for the ambiences. Someone sometime somewhere mentioned that the ambiences will be triggered with time, connection (BT/WLAN/AUDIO) and maybe other variables as well. So let's hope for the best and see what's cooking! :)

Well that was promised from day one "ambiences will become settings umbrellas"... waiting for SFOS 2.0 then!

@chemist - yeah, so I've heard. I only just jumped to the Jolla wagon, so. For me everything is new and exiting. Can't imagine the frustration of waiting a feature for a year or two which was promised from the beginning.. :/

@raketti welcome on board :) Yes it sometimes gets frustrating, but in the end is just a phone

@c.la - That's absolutely amazingly true! It's just a phone. :) I've seen people tear their hair off in some discussions - just chill people. We're (ok, most of us) are civilized people here. :) And thanks!
