sailfish eduroam - can we have ONE guide [answered]

Like many others, I would like to connect my jolla (and later also the tablet) through eduroam. I notice that these pages are full of discussions of the topic, of remarks in all sorts of ways, and of statements like "this no longer works since", or "no longer needed after update".

I think this illustrates a massive problem with sailfish which also occurs on other topics. It appears to be impossible to find one definitive entry point where the "final" state of affairs is described on anything.

Can there not be a how-to of some sort, which gets updated when things change? Or did I simply miss it?

Being a bit provocative here, I would actually like to see Jolla finishing the middleware + UI work needed for certificate management and provide an effortless GUI way of doing things. I really do hope that this will happen before Sailfish 2.0..

I use Roamer from OpenRepos for an easy way around this.

According to the developer roadmap WPA Enterprise support is slated for Q4 2015.

You are probably looking for this https://together.jolla.com/question/315/wpa-8021x-enterprise-others-gui-wifi-support-needed-workaround/ the guide in the top post is just fine. Please note that for some reason config items are case-sensitive for some entries - I added my config to the top post so a ttls/PAP config is within the first. I set this up in Dec '13 and never changed anything - between '13 and now there were some bugs introduced that have been fixed (that is actually readable from any post regarding this topic)

It works! Which is the most important part for me.

But I still would like to see that someone, somehow, cleaned up all the workarounds from these pages and made sure that anyone else who needs this information can actually find it...

I included eduroam in the name, as being tagged did not help, also marked it as [How-To], also note that all others are either answered or tagged duplicate, if you filter your search from duplicates (sidemenu on main view) you will get only such results that are not duplicates to start with...

After updating my Jolla to Björnträsket (1.1.7.28), eduroam ceased to work. Conf file and cert are where they were on the previous version when eduroam worked. Do I need to downgrade connman somehow?

Just for the record: Really bad idea to downgrade things in a closed environment. For your problem, have you tried remove->restart or reboot->add again->restart or reboot? The only other thing I can imagine causing it stop to work is certificates issue in some way, as written above, I am still on my setting from 2013, nothing changed.

For a while, I was considering downgrading the whole Sailfish according to: https://together.jolla.com/question/50986/howto-how-to-revert-to-an-earlier-sailfish-os-version/

But the situation got solved. Serverside, there's a bug in freeradius TLS 1.2 implementation which prevented Jolla and Android 6.0 marshmallow from connecting. After tweaking our eduroam server to use TLS 1.1 both started working again. https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=188867

At my end, eduroam now works flawlessly on the jolla - so I can vote for having this question closed...
