App for viewing gpx files? [answered]

Hi, I want to be able to display gps tracks on my Jolla, I look for some app that can handle gpx files. Haven't found a native app nor a working android app so far. Any ideas? thanks, Stephan

Halftrail is a native app (available in Harbour) that can load and show GPX tracks if you put them in ~/.local/share/harbour-halftrail/halftrail/tracks.

OK, I have tried Halftail, copied a gpx file to the directory, but I don't seem to be able to load it. Please share a hint!

Here is how to load a GPX file in Halftrail:

Press the button in the lower left corner (or just press there if it is not currently visible) to bring up the menu.
Select "Track". That option now expands with more options.
Select "Open track". A file select dialog is opened where *.gpx files in the tracks folder are listed (and also sub-directories, like the "autosave" folder (the files are listed without the file extension).
Select the file you want to load. The track should now be visible on the map (blue colour).

How far do you get, following the above?

Oh well ... Thanks! Somehow I always tried pressing the icons in the 2nd line, not realising the 3 icons at the bottom line. Somehow it was not intuitive to me ...

Yeah, the "toolbars" in Halftrail aren't the most intuitive, but after you got used to it, it works pretty OK.

Even though it does not support that yet, I plan to add GPX viewing support to modRana in the future. :)

osmand (Android App) is working well for that. it records also tracks in gpx-files, just put your file to the same folder

Rena and Maep are 2 native apps which are also able to manage gpx files. So you see, you really have a choice!

Tried rena, but it seemed to me that it's only able to display tracks that were recorded with it ...

I can confirm that Maep works just fine. If you load the maps before, you can even have it working offline!

I've made good expieriences with oruxmaps (android app). You should move the gpx file to the tracklogs folder. You find it under /home/nemo/android-storage/oruxmaps/tracklogs . After that, your'e able to open it.

You can store maps on sdcard (downloaded by pc) to use offline and store recorded tracks to phones memory.

Another Android app that works is viewranger. Put your gpx file in Android storage/ viewranger and you can import it from there...

I'm currently developing an app to read specific route files: bike routes in the Netherlands and Belgium can be cycled with waypoints identified with numbers (knooppunten). On the streets route signs show the numbers (knooppunten). Routes can be created at Fietsnet.be (for Belgium) and Route.nl (for the Netherlands). Initial version will only import en show routes.
