This is a thread to help people collaborate. While you can get coders to help in the dev mailing or TMO there isn't much going on in other areas like graphics UI/UX or anything of that nature.

So are you a coder and you suck at graphics/design? Want someone to help you with the UI of an app. Want a cool icon? Sound effects or music?

Ask here and someone might help (for free or for an enormous amount of money :P).

Please post your requests as answers to which people willing to help can add comments.

Good idea, so many apps in Jolla store have really ugly icons ;-)

I'm interested in developing (so would like your help to put together) the source code for a pulley menu extension whereby pulley menus:

  • are more user-customisable & deployable
  • can have icons instead of text if desired by the menu creator or the menu user
  • can drag side-to-side (be wider than the screen)
  • allow shorter text items on the same row
  • are stored in user-editable configuration files auto-protected/allow undoing of changes by git integration
  • are represented in storage by HTML/CSS, keeping the QML behind it out of the sight of the user

A forum search for "pulley" should link to content that further elaborates on most of these.

Thanks.

Pulley menus are part of Sailfish OS user interface, and in the level you describe these changes, that would require hacking of some closed sourced code owned by Jolla. So, unfortunately the community can't help you achieving that... distributing these kind of changes would not be allowed without an agreement with Jolla. As an option, you might want to consider it as a patch instead (in patching, I'm sure community can help if they want to)

@simo: Thanks for your comment. I'm saddened not to be able to express encouraged enthusiasm, but at least I now have more of an idea about parts of of the situation.

Kludging about in the dark trying to bolt improvements onto code I can't see is unfortunately a profound waste of time (only my own time - others may find it informs their learning and approach).

Taken individually, each improvement proposed might not take long to implement for a developer familiar with the code and Qt - may only a few lines of well-positioned instruction and explanatory comments. However, those basic ideas which seem obvious follow-on enhancements to whst is already there will have to be done by someone else, if their management team at Jolla is thus inclined, unless or until the sources become public or otherwise available.

I'm interested on SFOS App Design website (android/iOS have FluidUI, MarvelApp, InvasionApp..) where developers and users could share ideias and design directly the UI on the website..
