I have apparently lost photos on my SD / Phone. I moved them via the PC Connection from the Phone Memory to the SD card and now most (if not all) pictures from 2015 are gone. At least I can not see them via Gallery of Windows Explorer.

I tried to reindex but so far without success....

What now?

Recovery tools - after plugging my SD directly to the PC seem to find (at least many pictures) them! I´ll let you know once I am through. DataRecovery 2.4.7 (by Tokiwa) seems to do the job.

It found them all - keep your fingers crossed!

Recovered but unable to display..... investigating why.

Retrying with Photorec 7.0.... Unclear why the previous failed.

Photorec is the best IMO.

Sounds like a job for tracker, from what you are saying; you have put your images somewhere else, rendering the old/original path no longer accessible. The phone needs to be made aware of the new path

Open Terminal and type in tracker-control -es - in most cases, this does restore the lost images. Tracker isn't always so quick to pick up the changes and requires a nudge.

So far, I have never found that 3rd party software is required to sort this kind of problem, many problems with Jolla/Sailfish, can be fixed via command line.

As the problem started (if I saw this correctly) when I moved pictures from phone memory to a SD card. After that several pictures (for example all since the beginning of 2015) are not visible.

I´ll retry the tracker.

The tracker did not find the "lost" pictures....
