[Feature-request] Allow import of .ics / iCal files in calendar [released]
Importing external .ics file in calendar app.
Importing external .ics file in calendar app.
Its not an answer, its my question in the same direction. I need to sync my Calendar as .ics-File without google and microsoft with my nativ jolla-calendar.
Lightnig users can live with simple solutions. Only read / write in the case of opening / closing, the calendar should be sufficient.
Therefore need to find either a calendar app that uses ics files, or an app in order to sync ics.
I bought my Jolla with the idea of being able to just live without Googl.
I have similar issue, but I would be happy with just read-only automatic syncing external .ical file. According to this thread it's called as subscribing.
Our school timetables are in ical.

I tried to import an .ics exported on my N900 with 176 events (all in seperate BEGIN:VCALENDAR sections). It seems, that only the last one was imported. Moreover it was not imported into the selected calendar. Has anyone else tried?
Flaury ( 2015-06-16 00:17:17 +0300 )Doesn't work properly with imported holiday calendar from Mozilla: all day events are off by two hours for me. See this question.
luen ( 2015-06-21 02:49:51 +0300 )I don't see anything anywhere solving the feature request. Please be more specific or reopen this thread! cheers
eatdirt ( 2015-10-11 15:20:15 +0300 )How can I import ics-files? Can't find any "import ics-file" buttons in calendar or accounts. And file browser doesn't recognize ics-files.
Edit: Now the file browser recognized a file and importing was successful. Don't know what I did earlier.
hsjpekka ( 2016-03-06 08:36:33 +0300 )Would anyone of you have time to try if this trick works for any ICS calendar? https://together.jolla.com/question/46660/how-to-enable-schedule-of-the-fifa-world-cup-2014-as-separate-calendar/
Yes, adding the ICS file to a Google agenda makes it appear on the Jolla, but it's not very convenient when receiving the ICS file by email (for instance as a reminder for a car rental), nor very private.

This would be very helpful indeed, in particular if well integrated with the email client and the web browser (suggest importing event into calendar when opening an .ics file).
Nicolas ( 2013-12-25 12:51:37 +0300 )yes, I would like this, too. Currently, I have NO way of getting my Outlook calendar events on my Jolla, this would at least be a workaround until CalDAV support is implemented.
Also, a lot of webpages offer .ics files to add an event to calendar - I want to be able to do this on my Jolla, not only on PC...
casanunda ( 2013-12-30 14:11:33 +0300 )I haven't tried it yet but I wonder if you could use something like MyPhoneExplorerwhich works fine for Android tosync phone, google and outlook - files, contacts and diaries. Haven't taken the step to activate Developer Options yet to load Google Play. It doesn't work!
westy ( 2013-12-31 13:07:22 +0300 )Definitely need this for those of us who have security policies in place at work which stop auto-syncing of Outlook with external calendars - as in you can't install Google Calendar Sync!!
westy ( 2014-01-13 18:41:40 +0300 )It could be very handy if you could Include the function to do this with network calenders too. I have so read only calenders that are send over the network using ics files and get updated on a weekly basis.
