there is suggestion from person who heavy use jolla just for calls:
make option settings for People/Phone app: Clear search bar after callout
IF ("last outgoing call" == "one of person from search result" [ || "last outgoing call" == "touched person in result"] ...) THEN Clear "search bar" in "People app" and "Phone app - call contacts view";
search results should remains there if current search was interrupted by incomming call or swipe to another app...
