finally fed up [subjective]
Tested the Jolla for 1.5 years in esperance there finally is a free software phone that complies to my need.
But has ...
- no working PIM (CalDAV/CardDAV)
- not been built for true sailors (the device cannot be used outside in sunlight. (Only in dark server rooms for pale beings...)
- no true encyption such as GnuPG or PEP
- no PIM synch with my GNU/Linux desktop
- no sync for my files nor photos (e.g. through shotwell), only through shellscripts (rsync) through ssh
- no OTR in XMPP(DAMN!!)
This phone is far from being usable. - I got a life and better things to do than desperately begging for core functions in a GNU Linux phone.
Ordered an Ei-Ph00ne 6 plus today.
Good bye Jolla!
(made with my Ei-Ph00n)
i actually agree with the second bullet point. i live in a country with bright sun light all year round.

vattuvarg ( 2015-05-27 09:14:20 +0200 )editI used shotwell one week ago to sync my photos. Just saying it may be a problem on your side for that point.
Tofe ( 2015-05-27 09:33:13 +0200 )editKinda amusing that you went for the iDevice. While that may meet some of your 'user' needs, it certainly doesnt meet that 'sailor' experience of opensource.....
Nieldk ( 2015-05-27 10:09:57 +0200 )editYou mentioned you use xmpp with iphone. My friends are using iphone and they have problem to find a xmpp app that actually works and stays on without the app being on top. Seems like xmpp is not integrated in iOS like it is in Jolla. Could you please tell me which iOS xmpp app is the best and the one solving all your problems so that I could help them?
