Please show the lyrics while a song is playing. I love listening to songs in foreign languages and and have downloaded the lyrics into the mp3 metadata. Seeing the lyrics helps me to better learn the language and I like seeing the lyrics for "normal" songs as well.

A possible suggestion for how to implement this (I'm sure there would be better ways too!): This could be done for example by swiping to the right in media player. Swiping could show a new screen that would display the lyrics from within the file, display the album cover which is already brilliantly displayed on the "home" screen where apps are minimized and add a pulley menu to that screen to show technical details about the file such as codec and bitrate, etc.

This would be a great feature.. The option of downloading the lyrics into the music files and/or reading lyrics online inside the media app (like swiping to the left) would be even greater. :)

Show either lyrics or the cover picture would be cool. Have the lyrics displayed over the cover like some players do is troublesome depending on the colors or picture of the cover. Can end up pretty unreadable.

Is there any way to get this functionality on a SailfishOS phone as long as its not implemented in the standard music player? My use case is language learning, too. I'd love to read what I hear while I hear it, so some application (even an Android one) that supports synchronized lyrics would be really great.

@ossi1967 You may want to install the QuasarMX Lite player, which supports to show the lyrics: https://openrepos.net/content/enigma/quasarmx-lite-0

@Alex: Thx, I tried it but it doesn't even play the music. Whenever I select a track an exclamation mark shows up to its left (probably where a "play"-symbol should appear - and that was it.

It's been a while... but at least I found a workaround that helps me a bit:

LLs Video Player now supports external subtitles for audio files and is able to load them automatically if the file names are the same. So playing "song.mp3" will show subtitles from "song.srt" if that file exists in the same directory. It takes some effort to extract all the existing lyrics emedded in my .mka audio files to separate srt files, and I can't switch between languages while playing, but in the end it works somehow.

BTW I didn't find an Android app that does that seemingly easy task, playing an audio (in my case: mka) file with embedded subtitles. Not even VLC for android seems to be able to do it, although VLC does it on the desktop (if visualizations are enabled).
