For the moment there is a known bug due to the NFC that is used to detect the other half, that should be deactivated when the OH has been recognize but don't.

The sysctl mask tohd.service hasn't caused any problems. Even the update to 1.0.2.5 went without problems tohd.service stopped and masked.

You can run that command with no ill consequences, the report that said it causes some booting problems has not been reproduced.. But, care should be taken when tweaking system services.

Ok, I just read some comments of people that had problem with it, so I prefer to warn about this eventuality (and not to do the mask command on my Jolla, even though I ever tried it without trouble).

Cf here https://together.jolla.com/question/597/fix-power-consumption-other-half/, the comments from Sfiet_Konstantin

Stskeeps has advised that the bricking was unrelated to masking the system service

The accepted answer is wrong in saying that tohd.service shouldn't be masked. It is just spreading rumors that have not been.confirmed. This answer should be deleted because of wrongly suggesting that masking of tohd.service causes problems.

Another answer here: http://www.jollatides.com/2013/12/23/source-of-battery-drain-nfc-always-on-solution/ . Also, the warning not to use this to mask tohd.service is too strict to not to use it, I've used it and have not have no issues whatsoever - except the power consumption improving considerably ;)
