on fairphone forum their is a poll named "Poll: If you could install any mobile operating system Software". For me, FP is my dream phone (Philosophy, Modularity). Now, sailfish is leading (68%). I don't know if FP team will produce a fairfish phone, but we can show us that we want see sailfish on their hardware.

Edit: No need for polling no more, it's coming:D https://www.fairphone.com/2015/10/22/jolla-community-working-on-sailfish-os-for-the-fairphone-2/ - This is awesome support from the Fairphone company to the Jolla community. Unofficially, so it's yet unsure if Fairphone will licence the Android Support as well.

Same here - it would be perfect to have sailfish os on a fairphone

Fairphone 2 with Sailfish would be perfect for me. I just voted and commented on the thread.

Frankly, I don't care too much on what phone SailfishOS will be installed, as long as there will be another phone with it, apart from the Jolla phone.

Too bad it requires registration to vote.

I'll most certainly purchase a Fairphone 2, if it supports Sailfish OS. I've been to the Fairphone communuty meet & greet, and had a hands-on session of an alpha Fairphone2. I do like and appreciate the modular design, and how easily a future user will be able replace parts, i.e. screen, usb connection module or camera module etc.

For me, the open-ish source SailfishOS is a perfect pairing for the ethical Fairphone. It always troubled me that the Jolla I own and love is probably stuffed full of conflict resources, but I couldn't bear the idea of going back to snoopy Google on the Fairphone. I back this all the way, would definitely buy one and spread the word far and wide. I hope the new Sailfish software arm is talking to them.

The poll was first discovered by @jolla_de 24 days ago. It was at ~30 unbiased votes back then, already running for 2 days. 2days after @jolla_de, 22 days ago it was discussed in the "Jolla Pioneer Fans" FB-group. Now there are ~220 votes. One could say the poll is already rigged to the max ;)

It is unlikely that Fairphone will switch to sailfish completely, so back then i suggested that fairphone could support sailfish porters in some way. The answere of moderator "ben" is quite promising:

Fairphone wants to bring more fairness to software. In line with our overall design objectives, our strategy for software focuses on openness, transparency and ownership with which we aim to achieve more product longevity. We’re using open source methods to help us achieve our goals. This includes striving to make our operating system (OS) source code and development environment available for anyone to use, review, modify and improve. At the same time, we are looking to collaborate with established alternative operating system vendors that share our ideas for openness. We’re in discussions with organizations to develop alternative operating systems that are optimized for the Fairphone 2. Our aim is to give users the choice in the operating systems that they want to use, instead of being limited to one that the manufacturer has pre-selected. https://www.fairphone.com/projects/creating-a-developer-friendly-software-environment/

So apart from just dreaming of a sailfish fairphone, which steps do we need to do to get sailfish porters to achive a mint port to latest fairphone hardware? Collect money to send some fairphones to sailfish devs/porters?

Rigged is one way of putting it, but I genuinely am interested in the Fairphone 2 and if it had sailfishos that would be perfect.

What can we do to make this a reality? Realistically we cant do much until someone ports CyanogenMod 11 to the thing, which might take some time, although they say they are releasing their sources so maybe sooner than you think

@r0kk3rz, i did not want to be negative and would love to see a sailfish fairphone. Hijacking the poll had many positive aspects. Most obvious, very few users at fairphone-forum even knew about sailfish. that has changed. And we already formaly apologised over there ;) Fingers crossed they ship with CM11. Would it be of any use for "our" porters if fairphone decides to go for CM12??

afaik hybris would have to be rebased on CM12, which was done for CM11 (used to be CM10) and is no doubt on the roadmap for the future, but until that happens it would be of limited use.

Well for me having Android on a phone is a major blocker, so up to now I have not considered Fairphone as any alternative. I do support their ideology so this has been a real problem.

If the device ever became available with a real operating system, that would indeed make it a real choice for me.
