[feature request] Disable Updatescreen to show plain information of update process
Would it be possible to deactivate the default update process screen to show the normal console output of upgade. Could be a setting at
Settings > System > Developer Mode
I think it could be a benefit for ultra long update processes that took more than 1 h. So we will more paitient if we see that the device is alive
More to the point we could give an accurate description of what point in the upgrade process it started hanging.

That's mad props for him! However, in the UX sense that's just plain wrong for letting the user to wait that long with no proper knowledge of progress. In this case the stagnant bar just don't cut it and anybody involved with any UX should know it, So please, if there is a chance for hours of waiting during installation do consider of relaying this information also to the user, somehow.
The "FedUp" Fedora upgrade tool has a nice splash screen with a progress bar during the upgrade, but shows you the console output during when you press escape. This is especially handy for reporting upgrade issues, but also for checking detailed progress information.
We of course don't have an escape key, so maybe the volume keys, a double-tap or a long press could be used ?
