Jolla backup via settings is not a backup. Even data in Jolla apps is not backed up. Jolla documentation and practices should reflect this.
Documentation should suggest that technical users backup their /home/nemo using tar to sdcard or to a safe computer instead.
Also, if reflashing devices in service is the standard practice, like it seems, then it should be written out explicitly. E.g. "All devices provided to service will be erased and reflashed. This removes all user data."
I got my device back and the official backups only managed to get contacts/People, Messages and Browser back. All data from these apps was lost: Settings (mobile network settings, swipe to close, jolla account, display and ring tone settings, developer mode, jolla account), Calendar (all entries lost), Notes (all entries lost), Gallery (all photos and videos lost, but this was expected and documented), Email (all caches lost, all settings and accounts lost), Theme (background pictures etc were lost, maybe related to Gallery though).
I really expected more and I'm disappointed that I trusted Jolla documentation and skipped tarring up /home/nemo on my own.
