I am used to be able to tap to zoom in and out on a photo on my N9 and would like the same feature on my Jolla. I know that right now tapping on a photo makes the share function appear (and pulley menu). I am just wondering if this option to zoom in and out could be achieved somehow?

Edit 23.2. Could the tapping be reserved for zooming in and out while the share function could be achieved via long press on the photo (instead of tapping like it is now)? Just an idea...

Yeah, this is really missing.

Right, double-tap to zoom would be consistent with browser, maps, and harmattan gallery. When zoomed all the way in on a photo, currently you have to full-screen pinch twice to get back to any gallery UI, which is quite awkward.

The double-tab in browsers zooms into a specific section (usually a div element or something similar). There are no such sections in photos, so how much would the double-tabbing zoom into? Zooming in by "pich open" in photos is the most logical gesture in my opinion.

I am more after easy menu access, but an okay solution is included (pulley menu accessible when zoom out to max), so vote up

Double tap zoom control seems a working solution. Then you can still go straight to share menu with single tap. This change would also make the phone more convenient to use by one hand.

Zooming in with "pinch open" and out with "pinch close" are implemented and today's normal way to handle the zooming in photos. However, when you have zoomed in, there should be a easy way to zoom out as much as possible, so that you can swipe from left / right to pervious / next photo or to use the single-tap or accessing the menu.

My idea: make double-tapping on a zoomed in photo to zoom out as much as possible.

I agree, zoom in/out by pinching are standard ways to do this and are enough. Double tap to zoom out is a nice idea, why don't you make a separate feature request for it?

Since this question is about the zooming in the gallery and there is no need to flood the system with similar questions. So vote for the answers / ideas that you think are good. See https://together.jolla.com/question/4389/posting-to-togetherjollacom/ on how to make together.jolla.com better for us all, thanks. :)

I miss unlimited zoom function. I would like to be able to zoom in much more on my pictures that it is currantly possible.

This should be here already! @Neo Could you edit your first post, maybe add [feature-request] or something. So, maybe Jolla will look in to that. It should not be that hard to make it 2x tap to zoom out, when zoomed in...

The "double-tap-to-zoom-out" idea presented by make sounds very good.

I would suggest implementing it as a standard for zoom-out action anywhere in the system. I.e. in Mail if you zoomed in you first need to zoom-out by pinch-close gesture before you can leave the message in favor to read another. Same applies also to full view in Tidings RSS reader.

https://openrepos.net/content/coderus/patch-gallery-doubletap-scale-reset Fulfilled by dear @coderus.

Install at your own risk.

P.S. I see a trend of all native files being replaced by coderus patches in my Jolla phone ;)
